The Different Characteristics of the Vowels in the Qirãāãt

The paper discusses the different characteristics of the vowels such as:

  • ijtizĀā (partial pronunciation) and itmãm (complete pronunciation),
  • imtizãj (being mixed) and khulĈĆ (being unmixed),
  • taāthąr (influencing the neighbouring vowel) and taāaththur (being influenced by the neighbouring vowel).

The paper discusses different degrees of each of these phonetic phenomenon.

Examples are cited from both mutawãtir and shãdhdh Qirãāãt.
