Waqf al-Bayān in the Glorious Qurۥan

Abstract

The terminology ‘waqf al-Bayān’ is one of the terms used in the field of waqf and ibtidaۥ. Despite its significance, it has not been given a befitting scholastic study and exploration, let alone isolating it with literature works like other terminologies of the subject.

In this study, the technical approach was used. All available text in which ‘waqf al-bayān’ was used verbatim or implicitly were gathered and then presented historically to ascertain the etymological development of the term and its meaning in both ancient and modern times. The most befitting definition for ‘waqf al-Bayān’, in the opinion of the researcher, was  deduced, followed with examples and comments.

As being done in the technical methodology of study, the presentation was completed after the compilation and study of the term, with explanation of its categorizing and explanatory qualities. Then came after that its major issues and relationship with other terms of the subject. Its derivatives and supplements were also treated, with recommendation of numerous additional terms that will boost the study in the subject and draw its scope and dimensions practically and theoretically.
