A Comprehensive Record of the Works Mentioned by al-Dâni in his Jâmi‘ al-Bayân

There are a number of books written by the ‘ulamâ’ of qirâ’ât in the second century AH,  but the original of most of these books have been lost, but we find quotations from these in the works of ‘ulamâ’ who lived in later centuries.

This paper endeavours to present the titles of these works which al-Dâni has mentioned in his valuable book, Jâmi‘ al-Bayân. The researcher has arranged them choronologically till the middle of the third century of Hijrah thereby complementing the previous efforts. This has provided research scholars with a documented index of earlier works dealing with qirâ’ât along with the names of their authors and the dates of their death.
