Dhakhirat al-Ikhwān al-Mukhtasar min Kitāb al-Istighnāۥ bil-Qurۥan

Dr. Hasan Sālim ‘Awad Habshān[3]

Abstract

All thanks and praises are due to Allah, and may His peace be upon His selected servants.

The Glorious Qurۥan is the best of Books, revealed to the best of all the sent down Prophets. Devotion to its sciences is a pious act and, indeed, one of the noblest deeds. And just as the noble sunnah of the Prophet r explains the Qurۥan, it is also required.

Anyone reading the Qur’an should be satisfied with it and dispense of all other books. He should be devoted to its learning and teaching, both recitation and memorization, making better his tone in its recitation in a manner that would help in achieving humility.

However, as one get devoted to the reading of the Glorious Qurۥan, he should also get engaged in what helps in understanding its meanings from tafsir, hadith etc., because all knowledge are in the Qurۥan devoid of baseless opinions. This is what the erudite scholar, Muhammad bin Umar Bahraq al-Hadhrami (d 930 AH) detailed in this book of his ” Dhakhrat al-Ikhwan al-Mukhtasar min Kitab al-Istighna’ bil- Qurۥan “.

The study of the text of this book has been prefaced with study of the author’s life and introduction to the manuscripts adopted in editing the text.
