Digital Writing of the Qur’ān

The paper deals with the problems facing the digital writing of the mushaf, and suggests solutions.

First, it deals with the problems inherent in the text of the Qur’ān which has special features pertaining to orthography and diacritical signs which differ from the normal orthography.

Secondly, it deals with the technical aspect of the problem such as the compatibility of the text with the different operational programmes and software. It also deals with the aesthetic requirements of preparing a digital mushaf such as developing new fonts.

The study arrived at the conclusion that the digital writing of the mushaf is  the best means of writing the mushaf in view of its quick and easy dissemination and far less expenses.
