Motives for Entering Hell Fire in the Light of the Qurۥan

By

Dr. Abdul Rahmān bin Abdul Jabbār al-Hausāwi[5]

Abstract

Since Allah is the true Owner of this dominion and the sole Creator, he thus has the sole right to the authority and ordinance just as he has the Creation. He said: {His is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed is Allah, the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinn and all that exists} (al-A‘rāf: 54) Allah has created mankind and jinn and assigned to them the task of worshiping Him and nothing more. He says: {And I (Allah) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone). I seek not any provision from them (i.e. provision for themselves or for My creatures) nor do I ask that they should feed Me (i.e. feed themselves or My creatures). Verily, Allah is the All-Provider, Owner of Power, the Most Strong.} (al-Dhariyāt: 56-58). Therefore, He made worshiping Him the foundation for entering Paradise or Hell Fire on the Day of Resurrection. So whoever obeys Him enters Paradise and whoever disobeys Him enters Hell Fire.

Although, this matter is as clear as the daylight in the Glorious Qurۥan, yet some Muslims, influenced by sophisms spread around the world wide web,  argue over these incontrovertible realities. They make doubts about the worthiness of the unbeliever to end in Hell, especially the people of the Book, since they are a people of a divinely sent Book. They cite verses from the Glorious Qurۥan either maliciously or out of ignorance. This is in addition to their conviction about the unbeliever’s positive impact on their lives, for being seen as the manufacturers of the various means of transportation, communication and even things that aid us in obeying Allah.

This research is a Qurۥanic study of the reasons for which the nonbelievers, including the people of the Book, deserve to end up in Hell, {…so that those who were to be destroyed (for their rejecting the Faith) might be destroyed after a clear evidence, and those who were to live (i.e. believers) might live after a clear evidence. And surely, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.} (al-Anfāl: 42), and a reply to the agitated sophisms about their deserving to enter Hell Fire even with their positive impact on the human material life.
