Rules of Tanwīn According to the Qurrā

The paper deals with the following rules of tanwīn according to the qurrā’:

Rule 1: It prevents assimilation (idghām).

Rule 2: Pause on the tanwīn.

Rule 3: Transferring the vowel of hamzat al-qat‛ to the tanwīn.

Rules 4: Pause on the tanwīn followed by  hamzat al-qat‛ with sakt.

Rule 5: Rules common to the tanwīn and the sākin nūn.

Rule 6: Its occurrence after a sākin letter.

Rule 7: Its occurrence after a maftūh rā which is preceded by a kasrah or sākin yā‘.
